Preparing a file to match our template is a thing of the past.
Smart import
is the new upload flow in every file-based bulk operation -
Import from File
,
Store Credit
Import,
Discount Codes Import
and
Bulk Update
. Upload the export you already have, in any language and with any column names, and let the app do the rest.
How it works:
  • Upload - drop any .csv, .tsv or .txt file (up to 10 MB). Extra columns are simply skipped
  • Map columns - your columns are matched to the supported ones automatically; anything uncertain is marked Check this so you can confirm it in one click. Columns we can't recognise are matched with AI
  • Fix data - every problem is grouped by type with a before/after preview: dates in other formats, amounts with currency symbols, uppercase emails, gid:// IDs, duplicates, past expiry dates, invalid gift card codes and more. Safe fixes are applied automatically; the rest take a single click or a quick cell edit
  • Review - see exactly what will be imported, then use the corrected file straight away or download it
Good to know:
  • Remembers your files - confirm a mapping once and the next upload with the same column layout is mapped for you
  • Shopify rules built in - the checks mirror what Shopify accepts (e.g. gift card codes must be 8-20 letters and digits), so rows no longer fail silently during the import
  • Your choice - use the Import experience switch at the top of each import form to move between Smart import and the classic upload. New stores start with Smart import; existing stores can switch whenever they like, and the choice is remembered
  • Private by design - the file is processed in your browser. Only unrecognised column names and a few masked sample values are sent to the AI matcher, and only on plans with API access

Customers often forget they have a gift card. The new Customer Gift Cards checkout block reminds them at the moment it matters: logged-in buyers see every gift card linked to them — purchased or received as a gift — with the last 4 characters, expiry date and current balance, right above or below the payment section. Codes are never exposed.
What's included:
  • Available cards only - by default only active cards with a remaining balance are listed; optionally include used, expired and deactivated cards
  • Applied badge - cards already redeemed in the current checkout are marked, so the customer knows which ones are left to use
  • Resend by email - a customer who can't find the code can resend the gift card email to themselves without leaving checkout
  • Fully configurable - custom heading, purchased vs. received cards, expiry date, resend button, a maximum number of cards, a sign-in hint for guests, and hiding the block when the customer has no cards
Getting started:
Open Settings → Checkout → Customize
, click Add app block and choose Customer Gift Cards. We recommend placing it next to the payment section, close to Shopify's gift card field
Works with the standard checkout; buyers must be logged in to see their cards
For full details, see our documentation.
Your customers can now keep their gift cards in Apple Wallet. Add the new
{{ gift_card.apple_wallet }}
merge tag to any gift card email template and it renders the official Add to Apple Wallet button, plus the pass as an attachment for mail apps that don't show the button.
What the pass looks like:
  • Your branding - the pass uses your Brand settings (Shopify admin → Settings → Brand): logo and store name in the header, square logo as the icon, and your primary brand colours as the pass colours
  • Gift card details - value, recipient's name and expiry date on the front; the code, your store link and the personal message on the back
  • Scannable at checkout and POS - the QR code encodes the same value as Shopify's own gift card pass and the code is shown uppercase in groups of four, exactly like Shopify's
Good to know:
  • The pass is generated and signed at send time and the gift card code is never stored in our database. The button link stays valid for 14 days; the attachment works indefinitely
  • Available in the initial gift card email only (Bulk Send, Autogenerate, Import from File, Postman, Rewards, Scheduled) - not in Reminders, which don't expose the code
  • Set up Brand logos and colours once in your Shopify admin and every pass picks them up automatically
Open the Template Editor, insert the Apple Wallet button merge tag from the Gift Card group, and send yourself a test. For full details, see our documentation.
Your customers can now manage their gift cards themselves, right inside the new customer accounts. Two new extensions are available:
Gift Cards page
  • All their gift cards in one place - purchased and received as a gift, with balance, status and expiry date. Codes are never exposed — only the last 4 characters
  • Resend by email - customers who lost the gift card email can resend it to themselves
  • Transaction history - every credit and redemption with the balance after each transaction
  • Convert to store credit - turns the remaining balance into store credit on the customer's account, in the card's own currency, and deactivates the card. Store credit then applies automatically at checkout
Gift Cards block
  • A compact widget for the customer account Profile page with the same actions in an overflow menu
  • Configurable in the checkout and accounts editor - hide purchased or received cards, individual actions, or the whole block when empty
Getting started:
  • Requires the new customer accounts; to spend converted credit, store credit must be enabled in your checkout settings
  • Add the Gift Cards page and its menu link in Settings → Checkout → Customize → Customer accounts (a menu link alone shows an error page), and place the block on the Profile page in the same editor
  • Tip: enable the recipient form on your gift card product so gifted cards appear automatically in the recipient's account
For full details, see our documentation.
You can now issue gift cards in any of your market currencies, not just your store's main currency. If your store sells in multiple currencies through Shopify Markets, a currency picker appears right next to the value field — just like in the Shopify admin.
What's new:
  • Currency picker in Autogenerate and Bulk Send - Choose your store currency or any market currency. Only currencies enabled in your Markets settings are offered, so every gift card you issue stays redeemable
  • Redemption control - For gift cards issued in a market currency, choose All currencies (the balance converts with spot exchange rates at checkout) or Issued currency only (the card can only be spent in the currency it was issued in)
  • New columns in Import from File - Add currency_code and redemption columns to your CSV to control both per row. Values are validated against your market currencies before the import runs
Good to know:
  • Gift cards issued in your store currency work exactly as before — redeemable in any currency using your Market settings' exchange rates
  • Stores selling in a single currency see no change to their forms
  • The operation details page and result files show each gift card's currency
For full details, see our documentation.
The Reports section just got a lot more powerful. 📊
Store Credit Balance
— export every customer holding store credit, one row per currency, with current balances and customer details. Perfect for liability tracking, reconciliation, and audits.
Gift Card Summary
— aggregate totals for any period: cards created, initial and remaining value, redeemed value, and a full usage breakdown per currency. Finally a one-click answer to "how many gift cards were used last month?"
Expiring Gift Cards
— find gift cards with remaining balance that expire within the next 30 days (or any window you choose), so you can remind customers before their balance is lost. Pairs perfectly with Gift Card Reminders campaigns.
Bonus: new filters on the Unused Gift Card Balance report
— filter by status (unused, partially used, fully used, disabled, or all), exact initial value, and minimum balance. Need a list of every $25 gift card created in June with its current balance? That's now one report.
Find them all under
Reports → New Report
in Gift Card Factory.
You can now add store credit to your
B2B companies
in bulk — not just individual customers. Credit is added at the company location level, exactly where Shopify B2B checkout looks for it, so your business buyers can see and spend it when ordering on behalf of their company.
What's new
  • Company recipients in Add Store Credit
    — Switch the new recipient toggle to "B2B companies" and choose recipients your way: pick companies from a list with per-location control, use a Shopify search query like
    name:Acme*
resolved when the operation runs (great for scheduled runs), or paste company names / external IDs one per line
  • Company rows in Import from File
    — Mix customer and company rows in a single CSV using three new optional columns:
    company_location_id
    ,
    company_id
    , or
    company_external_id
  • All locations at once
    — A company ID or external ID credits every location of that company; a location ID targets exactly one
  • Debits work too
    — Negative amounts subtract from a location's existing balance, just like for customers, with over-debits safely capped at the available balance
How to use it
Open
Bulk Operations → Add store credit
, switch the recipient toggle to
B2B companies
, and grant the companies permission when prompted. Or add the new company columns to your CSV in
Import from file
— customer columns keep working exactly as before, and take precedence when a row has both.
Good to know
  • Requires B2B on Shopify (Shopify Plus) and buyers using new customer accounts
  • Company credits don't send notification emails
  • Use the currency your company locations order in, so the credit is spendable at their checkout
For full details, see our documentation.
Gift Card Postman campaign now supports
custom gift card amounts
. Instead of being limited to fixed denominations, your customers can enter exactly how much they want to gift — and that amount sets both the cart price and the value of the issued gift card.
What's new
  • Buyer-chosen amounts
    — Add a "Custom" denomination to your gift card product and a "Gift Card Value" field appears on the product page when it's selected
  • Always in sync
    — The amount entered sets the cart price and the issued gift card value automatically, so the two always match
  • Spending cap
    — Custom amounts are capped by your plan's gift card issue limit
  • Powered by Shopify Functions
    — Built on Shopify's Cart Transform, replacing the deprecated Shopify Scripts, with no manual code or setup
How to enable
Open your
Gift Card Postman
campaign, turn on
"Enable custom gift card value"
, and grant the cart permission when prompted. We'll add the Custom denomination to your app gift card product and reveal the amount field on your storefront automatically.
Custom amounts are available to customers shopping in your store's default currency. For full details, see our documentation.
We've rebuilt the
Home dashboard
from the ground up — a faster, clearer overview of your entire gift card program in one place.
What's new
  • KPI strip with live filters
    — See your key metrics at a glance and switch the time range between
    Today, 7, 30, and 90 days
    .
  • Switch between programs
    — Toggle the metrics between
    Gift cards
    ,
    Store credit
    , and
    Discount codes
    without leaving the page.
  • Your toolkit
    — Every feature (Bulk operations, Rewards, Reminders, Shopify Flow, Postman, Refunds) shown as a card with its setup status and performance, so you can jump straight in.
  • Needs your attention
    — Smart health checks surface things to fix, like expiring gift cards or a missing storefront block.
  • Activity feed
    — A live stream of everything happening across your gift card program.
  • Top campaigns
    — Your best-performing campaigns from the last 30 days.
  • Plan usage at a glance
    — Track your usage credits and see exactly when they reset.
  • Create reports
    and ask our built-in
    AI assistant
right from the top of the page.
For new stores
If you're just getting started, the dashboard guides you with a
setup checklist
and suggested first moves to get up and running quickly.
You'll land on the new dashboard automatically. Existing stores can switch back to the classic view at any time using the toggle in the top bar.
You can now add a
scannable QR code
to your gift card emails. Recipients simply show the QR code at checkout, and your staff scans it to apply the gift card at your Shopify POS — no more typing long codes by hand.
How to add it
  • Open the email editor for any gift card template.
  • In the text toolbar, open the
    Merge Tags
    dropdown and choose
    QR code
    (under the
    Gift card
    group).
  • Prefer Liquid? Insert the variable directly:
    {{ gift_card.qr_code }}
  • A live QR preview renders right inside the editor, so you can see exactly how it will look before sending.
How it works
  • A unique QR code is
generated for each gift card at send time
and embedded directly in the email.
  • It encodes the gift card so it can be
    scanned at your Shopify POS
to apply the card to an order.
Where it's available
QR codes work in all gift card emails —
Bulk Send
,
Import from File
,
Gift Card Rewards
,
Birthday / Scheduled Gift Cards
, and
Postman
recipient & sender emails. They aren't available in
Gift Card Reminder
emails, since those don't include the full gift card code.
